My name is Al-Razee Anonnya, though I'm commonly known to the phillummenists across the globe as "Robert Burns", a nickname that has stuck to me over the years. I'm from Bangladesh, a country in the South-Asian region. I started my journey as a matchbox collector back in March 2018. Later in 2019, I became a member of Bangladesh Matchbox Collectors' Club (BMCC), one of the leading organizations of matchbox collectors in the world. Right now, I'm working as the Joint General Secretary of the club. I have approximately 40 thousand different matchboxes, labels, covers and book matches. Though I'm an ardent collector of anything related to phillumeny, the illustrious labels allure me mostly. Scandinavian, Dutch and Hungarian labels will always be on top of my priority list.
This is going to be my 19th international matchbox exhibition. For this 6th International Virtual Matchbox and Label Exhibition organized by BMCC and Australian Match Cover Collectors' Society (AMCCS), I'm going to exhibit a part of my Hungarian labels. I display 6 sets of matchbox labels produced in Hungary. All the sets depict different kinds of horses. Actually, it's an exhibit of the same set with 6 colour variations. All the labels have been arranged in the same order in all the sets so that the differences can be easily comprehensible. Each set contains 16 matchbox labels and a packet labels.
It's noticeable that "GYC" is written on the labels which refers to the GYC Match Factory of Hungary. Based in Szeged, it became the state owned match factory in Hungary which produced beautiful labels in the 1960s and 1970s. These sets were also issued in that glorious time of the factory. Today, the Europe Match Kft still operates in Hungary which is the successor of that State Owned Match Factory.
