Collector of matchstick labels, writer (author of 43 novels, mostly historical and children's books). He created more than 200 catalogues, albums and studies of 160 Czech matchstick factories and their labels for philumenists. Since 1955 he has been collecting labels from all over the world (excluding advertisements) and his collection contains more than 150,000 different labels and boxes from all over the world.

For this exhibition he prepared a sample from his collection of historical labels from the first years of the 20th century, mostly intended for export to India. At that time (in the years 1618-1918) the territory of the present-day Czech Republic was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and therefore the matchstick labels from the Czech Solo factory in the town of Sušice were marked Made in Austria.
